With 7 room categories, every type of guest is attended to, from the occasional single adventurer to the honeymoon couple on to families and groups of friends. Furthermore, each is served by a personal butler. The rooms and public buildings have a simple elegance with thatch roofs, high ceilings, custom wood furniture and Indian-influenced decorative elements.
The Spa by Clarins is the first spa in the Maldives by this exclusive brand. Other aspects are much as you will find in other fine resorts but it is the location that makes this resort stand out. It sits alone in the north eastern part of Gaaf Alifu Atoll. Guests will surely feel a liberating sense of being completely away from it all. It takes an hour’s domestic flight followed by an hour’s speedboat journey to get here but, in my opinion, Huvadhoo Atoll (that combines both Gaaf Alifu and Gaaf Dhaalu) is the most beautiful and most interesting atoll in the country
The island is narrow and runs due north-south along the atoll coast and as is usual with such geography there are lovely fine beaches stretching off both ends of the island. The beach
on the west side, looking into the atoll is always better than that looking out to the open ocean.
The land rooms (all on the eastern side) look to be very private but might not have a wide beach in front of them. The watervillas are on 2 jetties - one off either side of the island. Most of the rooms look west to the sunset and have access to the housereef. Some of the others face south for all-day sun on the deck.
Snorkeling looks to be pretty good on the quieter inside-atoll side (west) but too rough to go over the reef edge on the other, ocean, side. As for diving, very little is known as this is the first resort anywhere near here. It should be very exciting discovery, led by the excellent, experienced euro-divers centre. A major bonus for some will be the known surf points in the neighbourhood.
